Season Four: the countdown begins...

Season Four: the countdown begins...

For former FIA Formula E Champion and Renault e.dams driver Sebastien Buemi, it's been a long wait.

The 95 days that have passed since Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler driver Lucas di Grassi lifted the Championship trophy in Montreal must have felt like an eternity for the 29-year-old Swiss driver. But soon - in just 30 days, in fact - there will be no more waiting, wishing or what-ifs - just 20 drivers, ten teams and 14 rounds of pure, fully-electric street racing across five continents. Welcome, one and all, to the countdown to Season Four of the FIA Formula E Championship.

New to Season Four are seasoned endurance racing drivers Andre Lotterer (TECHEETAH) and Neel Jani (Dragon Racing), as well as Italian former IndyCar driver Luca Filippi who joins Oliver Turvey at NIO Formula E Team. With the season opener in Hong Kong now a double-header, the number of rounds for Season Four has increased from 12 to a record 14, all taking place over the course of seven months.

Spread over five continents, Formula E will bring circuit racing back to Switzerland for the first time in over 60 years with the Zurich E-Prix, as well as making its debut in Santiago, Sao Paulo and Rome. But it doesn't stop there. Added to all that is a significant power hike, which increases the amount of available race power from 170kW to 180kW, meaning either faster or longer races. In the words of Formula E Founder and CEO Alejandro Agag, "we’re going to see a season that’s really, really close. It could be the best season we’ve had."
