Double-header in the dark
Famed for it's fast and challenging layout, the Diriyah circuit is a favourite for the drivers, mastering the technical Bobsleigh Run where the car flicks left and right for a series of corners from the start of the lap can put your mind in a twist.
The track also pushes the limits of energy a management as the long back straight drains the batteries, so the lift-and-coast into the hard-braking Turn 18 opens up this corner for plenty of late diving passes. Who will shine under the spotlights in Saudi Arabia?
Podium potentials
The hot favourite will be TAG Heuer Porsche's Pascal Wehrlein. The German is coming off the back of a Round 1 victory in Mexico City where he comfortably dominated proceedings.
He arrives into Diriyah brimming confidence and at a race where he also cleaned up at in Season 10, cutting through the pack to win both races from down the order. The season opening with the strongest race locations for Wehrlein, after his success in Mexico City we head to where he completed the double.
It's rare for a driver to do the double, Wehrlein is one of only five to reach this accolade, but it's even rarer for drivers to complete a hat-trick of victories - of which there have only been two drivers to achieve this. Porsche seemed unable to translate their speed to Qualifying in Season 10, but with pole and the win in Mexico City, Wehrlein is looking to continue that momentum.
NEOM McLaren's new signing Sam Bird is among the most successful in Diriyah, the Brit has two victories and a third place finish to his name on these historic streets.
The papaya outfit did well in Diriyah last year, scoring their only podium of the year with Rene Rast. Bird has a habit of debut success here, after scoring his first victory with Jaguar in his first year with the British team in Season 7.
After a rough start to his title defence, Andretti's Jake Dennis will be looking to return to the similar fortunes that he experienced here in his championship-winning season. He'll be targeting a better grid start, but the Brit demonstrated passing prowess as he marched to second on both days from down the order
One lap pace
That aforementioned McLaren pace in Diriyah was in the hands of last year's rapid rookie, Jake Hughes. The Brit reached the Duel finals for both Diriyah races, taking both his and McLaren's maiden Formula E pole positions in the second race. He was unable to convert those front row starts to podium finishes, but did lead his first-ever lap in just his third race in Formula E.
Robin Frijns has set the ambitious target/bet to reach the Duels in the first six races of Season 10, he's already checked off the first round after reaching the Quarter Finals in Mexico City.
The Dutchman's return to Envision Racing didn't get off to the glowing start that pre-season testing seemed to foretell, crashing out in his first race back in the green machine. Frijns scored his first pole in Diriyah back in Season 7 and came very close to winning after a close fight with Bird. Will Frijns return to winning ways with Envision in Diriyah?
