New Porsche factory driver Antonio Felix da Costa visited the German marque's Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen HQ this week, as the Season 6 champion looks to get his feet under the table in new surroundings for Gen3.
The Portuguese toured the company museum - filled to the brim with title-winning racecars from its storied history, as well as the best road cars from its back-catalogue. On top of that, da Costa headed to the current production line of Porsche's flagship EV - the Taycan, a car he now calls his own and the one he roadtripped the 700km run to Zuffenhausen. He says it's a gamechanger.
"I always knew that electric cars were the future, but this trip totally convinced me," he said. "It's great that Porsche is building such cars. The Taycan has all the Porsche DNA and combines performance and efficiency in a beautiful design.
"I was deeply impressed by the professionalism and love of everyone working in the factory - it's a pure reflection of the Porsche brand. The close connection between motorsport and road production is definitely one of the secrets of Porsche's success."
The 2019/2020 champion is working flat out with the team on further developing the new Porsche 99X Electric Gen3 in preparation for Season 9 and the season-opening Mexico City E-Prix on 14 January. “I can hardly wait,” he said. “The team is working hard to ensure that we have a successful start into the new season.”
