The new generation is coming, and Taylor Barnard is leading that charge. No longer a rookie, the young Brit moves to DS PENSKE after a debut season that saw him race to debut poles and podiums. The Brit has already broken into the record books, look up the youngest podium, pole and points and you’ll see his name.

Barnard, from Norwich, England, entered single-seater racing in 2020. Since then, he has become the 2022 ADAC Formula 4 runner-up and the 2023 Formula Regional Middle East Championship runner-up. In 2023, during his debut season in FIA Formula 3, he took his maiden victory in the championship at Spa-Francorchamps and finished the season 10th in the Drivers’ standings. Moving up to Formula 2 for the 2024 season, the young Brit showcased his street circuit skills with a Sprint Race victory in Monaco.

Taylor got his first taste of Formula E racing in October 2023, having driven for the team as a rookie driver during the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship’s Valencia Pre-Season Test. Since then, he’s become an integral part of the team in his role as Reserve and Development Driver for NEOM McLaren.

Rookie Barnard debuted in the Monaco E-Prix Round 8, having last turned a wheel a fortnight prior in Misano's Rookie Free Practice session — in which he finished top. Stepping up at the final hour after an injury to Sam Bird was a huge learning curve for the young Brit, but he ended the race in 14th place, gaining eight places in the process and finishing ahead of his teammate.

Barnard was called up to replace Bird again in Berlin. Showcasing his abilities in that famous papaya again, he scored points in both legs of the double-header, finishing 10th and eighth in the German capital.

These performances have seen NEOM McLaren offer Barnard a full-time drive, stepping up to join Sam Bird for Season 11 - and the young Brit did not disappoint. His first full-time drive in Formula E started with a hard-fought third in São Paulo, becoming the youngest podium finisher in the all-electric series. He then added to this with further rostrum visits in Jeddah, Tokyo and Shanghai. His first full year saw him fully integrated in the championship fight, ending the season with fourth overall.

With McLaren leaving Formula E, Barnard's performances made him a hot property for Season 12. A highly coveted signature, he joins DS PENSKE and wears black and gold alongside Maximilian Günther, the current holder of the youngest winner in Formula E.
