EARLY YEARS

A true racing renaissance man, Nick Cassidy's racing career has seen him successfully jump from GT cars to single-seaters, and he has already demonstrated his speed for the Envision Virgin Racing in the annual Marrakesh Rookie Test.

Born in Auckland, New Zealand, Cassidy started racing at a young age, competing in karting at just six years old. He then launched a successful career in his home country and took on the likes of future Formula E winner Mitch Evans.

Graduating to single-seaters, Cassidy set off with a winning debut in the Formula First New Zealand series in 2008, before eventually becoming one of the most successful drivers in the history of the Toyota Racing Series.

After back-to-back championship victories in the Toyota Racing Series, Cassidy travelled to Europe to take on the FIA Formula 3 European and Renault 2.0 championships. The New Zealander also got his first sampling of street racing with an impressive third-place finish in his first-ever appearance at the challenging Macau Grand Prix.

RACING IN JAPAN

Cassidy then branched out into Japanese motorsport, taking on dual driving duties in the Super Formula and Super GT championships. Driving for the legendary TOM'S racing outfit, the Kiwi continued his rise in Japan, winning the Super GT title in 2017 and the Drivers' Championship in the 2019 Super Formula season.

FORMULA E WITH ENVISION

After a star appearance topping the timesheets at the 2020 Marrakesh Rookie Test, Cassidy jumped back into the seat with Envision Virgin Racing for his debut in the 2020/21 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.

Cassidy consistently impressed and a storming second half of his season yielded two trips to the rostrum of his own, in Puebla and New York City on his way to 15th in the Drivers’ standings. Season 8 yielded more progress as the Kiwi continued alongside Robin Frijns at the team. As the championship tightened, Cassidy fired to 11th overall – with a maiden victory in New York City and a further podium in London added to his tally.

Season 9 saw Cassidy partner with Formula E world champion Sebastian Buemi, and the two led Envision to its first Teams’ championship. The charge was led by Cassidy who claimed four wins, three second places and a third place, as he narrowly missed out to Jake Dennis in the Drivers’ Championship.

A NEW CHALLENGE WITH JAGUAR

For Season 10, Cassidy joined forces with his compatriot Mitch Evans at Jaguar TCS Racing, with the pair looking to guide the iconic British outfit to their inaugural Teams’ Championship. 

The New Zealander immediately got up to speed with the factory squad, taking podiums in Mexico City and Diriyah before taking his first victory in the second race in Saudi Arabia.

Another win alongside four podiums on the bounce followed as Cassidy put himself right in the frame for championship honours. However, an error while in the lead in the closing stages in Portland put Cassidy out of the race for the title.

Cassidy remains with Jaguar into Season 11 and the GEN3 Evo era. He'll be among the favourites for next season.
