"We are going up the ladder" says Nerea Marti, Andretti's Team Ambassador

Meet Nerea Marti, racing driver, trailblazer, and Andretti Formula E's new Team Ambassador.

Nerea Marti is no stranger to the Andretti Formula E Team, having represented the team at both the 2024 and 2025 pre-season Women’s Test. However, for Season 12, the Spanish driver is taking on a new role within the historic brand, as she steps up into a Team Ambassador role.

“It started at the Women’s Test,” Nerea explains, when asked how she came to forge such a strong connection with the American outfit. “I connected a lot with the team in Madrid and Valencia (for the test), and after Valencia we started talking about doing something to be closer and more connected here in Formula E. It’s such a big opportunity for me and I'm really excited about it.

“As Team Ambassador, I'm connecting with the fans and doing a lot of interviews and social media things, to give more visibility and more opportunities, especially in Mexico, Miami, and Madrid. I can speak Spanish with them, so it's easier to connect with the people (coming to races).”

But this new role isn’t just focused on work in front of the camera, Nerea’s impact can be felt on track too, as she plays a critical role as a simulator driver, helping the team collect data ahead of race events.

“The simulator is not easy,” she says. “But it's nice because you can learn all the tracks, all the procedures, all the references, so it helps a lot, especially for the drivers when you have to prepare for the race weekends, to be ready and do the work before coming here (to track). It's really important to arrive prepared.

“Being in the simulator I can learn a lot from the engineers because I'm working with the engineers there. I'm learning all the procedures, all the references, and how I can drive in Formula E. It's true that it's a simulator, it's not the reality, but at the end you learn the basics and you have a big part of the work done before coming to the track.”

The next track that Nerea and the team will be preparing for is Madrid, a place that Nerea knows well. But for Formula E teams, the track is an unknown quantity (despite pre-season testing taking place here in 2024 - as this will be the first time that the all-electric championship has raced at the venue.

“I love to go to Madrid and Formula E being in Madrid is great,” Nerea says. “I would love to drive there, but in my new role it's still great to be there with the team in Madrid, as my home race and I will be supporting the team a lot.”

Through Formula E’s Girls on Track initiatives, the championship will once again invite 120 local girls to participate in a day of activities in the Madrid paddock, ahead of the E-Prix. Delivered at every Formula E race, the programme aims to inspire and empower the next generation of motorsport talent.

Nerea is not naive to the visibility that her new role provides, nor does she underestimate how her increased visibility can be used to inspire the next generation of women in motorsport - especially in her home nation, Spain.

“When I started I didn't see any women in motorsport,” Nerea explains. “Now it has changed a lot because everyone is pushing to have more girls in motorsport. Thanks to W Series, F1 Academy, and now also Formula E, who are pushing to give women more opportunities and more visibility, we are going up the ladder.

“Now, when I go to karting - which is the grassroots of motorsport - I see many girls starting out and I'm really proud about this because I think we’ve opened those doors and I'm excited about this. They saw that we are racing and we are in important championships already, so I think some girls say ‘I want to be there also.’”
