EVO Sessions: TheBurntChip and Calfreezy's Señor Frogs win in Jeddah

EVO Sessions returned on 15 February, bringing together the world's biggest creators and putting them behind the wheel of the GEN3 Evo. It was TheBurntChip in the Jaguar TCS Racing car that came out on top at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit.

What is EVO Sessions?

The one-day event at the challenging circuit of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia saw 10 of the world’s most influential content creators and personalities get behind the wheel of the GEN3 Evo - Formula E's current race car.

It's Señor Frogs, managed by Calfreezy, versus team Quickstars with Vikkstar as the Team Principal. They'll lead two packs of drivers to decide who's the quickest around the Jeddah Corniche Circuit, a track known for its fast twists and turns.

Who came out on top in the Groups?

So, the opening session saw the eight drivers lap for 15 minutes to try and make it through to the Duels and in with a shout of winning the Final - pretty much the same format as in Formula E qualifying.

Chip - heading up Señor Frogs - was an early pacesetter after his opening laps in the Jaguar. He had 15 minutes to set his best time and managhed a 1m28.425s lap.

Behzinga, driving the DS PENSKE, beat his teammate to the top time with a 1m27.984s setting the pace in the group running, while Porsche's JUCA returned to EVO Sessions to place second despite a spin - the fastest of Vikkstar's Quickstars.

Chip wound up third, WILLNE in the Mahindra fourth and ArthurTV in the other Jaguar fifth.

Emilia Hartford was also back for EVO after winning the first event last year. She was second fastest of the Quickstar guys in the other Porsche just ahead of Izzy Hammond in the Lola.

Khaby Lame wound up eighth, Browney ninth and Max Klymenko of Career Ladder fame rounding things off in 10th.

And who won EVO Sessions?

Behzinga saw off Khaby Lame in the first of the Quarters before big shunt for Izzy Hammond saw Behzinga make the Final with JUCA's car also damaged from the Groups.

The DRIVETRIBE star hit the wall hard - a 25g impact - at the hairpin. It was a big shunt but Hammond was able to walk away and was cleared by Medical after the accident.

WILLNE craftily gave up his run at the final to ensure Chip would get through to face Behzinga.

First though, Browney faced off against Max Klymenko for the Wooden Spoon with the former coming out on top, spoon in-hand.

Behzinga was first to go in the Final and set a storming 1m28.633s with Chip needing to find more than a second to compete for P1 overall.

Amazingly, Chip did it. The Brit found the time to pip Behzinga to top spot by 0.4 seconds - nothing between them.

Of course, Señor Frogs took home the team prize - some day for that squad - beating Quickstars 18 points to five.

"This has been months in the making," said Chip. "So many moving parts, so many things going wrong in the buildup, and then it’s finally all come together. And I don’t think it could have gone any better really.

"Honestly, it’s been the best time ever. I loved it.

"Even just stepping into the car, when I first accelerated out of like the final turn, I was like: "Oh my god, I’m never going to get to experience this ever again, so it's probably one of the greatest days of my life!

"I’ve just now I've won and my team’s won with me, so I'll struggle to match this. But I’ll tell my fiancé my wedding day will be better.

"Apparently, my mum was cutting vegetables in the living room so she could tune in. So, that's class from her! I want to thank everyone for watching!

"It's been a big weekend for Jaguar, too. Mitch [Evans] got a podium after starting 11th on Friday and Antonio [Felix da Costa] won it yesterday. Now Jaguar have also won the EVO Sessions - so it's been a big weekend!"
