NYCK de VRIES
“First weekend with PIT BOOST. We generally like those races, so that's definitely something to look forward to. It's the first double header. First night race. So there are many firsts, at least in this season. We generally feel good about the start of the season, where we are and we just want to focus on ourselves and continue this momentum forward. We haven't really necessarily lighten up the screens, but we feel that we've been competitive in various circumstances and conditions and realise there’s areas we can do better, but just need folks on ourselves.
“I think the days are much nicer like this. And racing at night rinks, I would say an additional experience and emotion towards the racing with the light show and everything looks a bit more dramatic and emphasised.“
TAYLOR BARNARD
“Good memories. I had a pole and two podiums and that was my kick start to my season last year, I guess. This season, hoping for the same. Unfortunately, I’ve not had the start that we would have liked. I think the pace, the car and everything has been there to get the points and the results, but things happen in Formula E that just meant that we haven't got the points that we should have at the minute. But regardless, the pace and everything's been there, we just need to have a bit of fortune on our side.
“The night race last year was very cool. That was the first one for me. Obviously, it was announced today that we've got another one in Tokyo, which is super cool and looking forward to both.
“The first sector of this track on the full layout is super cool, and it depends a bit on how much energy the Gen 4 car is using on a push lap. But let's see. I would love it. I'm sure everyone else too, but obviously we have to do what's best for the championship
MAXIMILIAN GÜNTHER
“(Last year) was obviously a great weekend for both Oli and me. It was great for us to win the first PIT BOOST race, so definitely looking forward to having a PIT BOOST race this weekend.
“I just love this track, honestly, it’s such a great venue for Formula E. Having a night race, I think the championship fits very well to this track and it was a good race last year. Usually a copy and paste approach from previous years never works, that would be too easy, but I think we have a good idea in terms of our preparation and how we want to approach this race. Now, with the one minute of ATTACK MODE there will always be an element of falling on the lucky or unlucky side, like a Safety Car or a Full Course Yellow. This is Formula E, for things like this you can never predict, but generally I think we have a good game plan of how we want to execute (the race).”
OLIVER ROWLAND
“After (driving the circuit last year) with the level of grip, and as drivers we weren’t so used to driving with the 350Kw last year, the four-wheel-drive off the chicanes was actually quite impressive. I’m actually quite interested coming here this year to see where we are compared to everybody else, because I think a lot of teams and cars have improved over the last 12 months and I think it’s our first race where we were really competitive last year and I think we’ll see if we’re good or not.
“I think if you’re in a good position on energy and pace it makes it a little easier, you can be more flexible with when you go (into ATTACK MODE) and you can risk a little more.”
JOEL ERIKSSON
“Once again, it’s going to be a new track for me, so I’m going to make sure I learn as quickly as possible in FP1. Obviously, I have a good teammate when it comes to that. From a driver perspective, we all like this type of schedule, it means we can sleep a little longer in the mornings which makes it a little less stressful for us.
“Formula E is very complex, and the racing itself is obviously way different compared to what I’m used to. The team has done a great job trying to help me have a quick process of learning everything and I’m getting along with Seb very well, hes’ very supportive and has been helping me every race weekend.”
