UPDATE: Drugovich penalty means maiden points for Maloney

Felipe Drugovich thought he'd sealed points on his Andretti debut in front of his home crowd, but the stewards said otherwise after the chequered flag...

Home hero Felipe Drugovich navigated a hectic season-opener to finish fifth at the flag on debut for Andretti. The Brazilian former Formula 2 Champion had made a mistake during his group in qualifying, damaging his car and bringing out the Red Flags. This meant he started 17th, but a brilliant drive and smart ATTACK MODE strategy meant he finished fifth at the line whilst his teammate Jake Dennis took the victory.

That looked like it had made it two in the top five for the American team. However, a post-race penalty for speeding under Full Course Yellow, with Drugovich passing Citroen's Nick Cassidy, left the Brazilian down in 12th position after the five seconds incurred were applied to his race time. He was also hit with a three-place grid drop for Mexico, for overtaking under the same Full Course Yellow.

REPORT: Dennis wins storming Season 12 opener in São Paulo

That meant maiden points for Lola Yamaha ABT driver Zane Maloney in Formula E - who wound up a net 10th. After a challenging rookie season across the 2024/25 campaign, this also marks Maloney's first points in the all-electric championship.
