From grassroots social impact programmes like FIA Girls on Track hosting 120 young women over the weekend, and local community projects supported by the Better Futures Fund, to powering the event by renewable energy and significant waste management systems, social and environmental sustainability continues to be in Formula E’s DNA as it celebrates its season finale at the London Excel this weekend.

As Formula E maintains its position as the world’s most sustainable sport, it continues to deliver lasting social and environmental impact in every race location. The Season 11 finale reflects this ambition through a wide-reaching programme of purposeful action, from electric mobility innovation, to grassroots community partnerships.

Sustainability credentials at the 2025 Marvel Fantastic Four London E-Prix include:

Better Futures Fund: Tackling homelessness through innovation

  • The Formula E Better Futures Fund is supporting the Change Please Foundation in London with a donation of  €25,000 to refit and mobilise a newly-donated ULEZ-compliant bus.
  • Change Please Foundation is an award-winning social enterprise that empowers people experiencing homelessness by providing training, employment, and wraparound support.
  • Through initiatives like Driving for Change, it converts London buses into mobile support centres offering vital services spanning mental health support, dental care, hairdressing, housing advice, and employment pathways to rough sleepers and hidden homeless populations across multiple London Boroughs.
  • At its core, Driving for Change is not just about delivering services — it’s about bringing services to people through innovative, mobile, and sustainable infrastructure. The use of a newly donated ULEZ-compliant bus to deliver homelessness services demonstrates how mobility solutions can be repurposed to meet critical social needs — mirroring Formula E’s mission to accelerate sustainable human progress through electric vehicle technology.
  • The Better Futures Fund, established by Formula E during Season 10, aims to create a lasting positive impact in host cities by supporting local initiatives that address social inequalities and environmental issues.
  • Formula E and members of the championship ecosystem will join the Driving for Change mobile service bus during race week to support hospitality, personal care, and community engagement, fostering deeper understanding of homelessness and promoting dignity through direct action.

FIA Girls on Track*

  • Up to 120 girls aged 12–18 will take part in the FIA Girls on Track programme across the London race weekend, gaining hands-on experience in STEM, motorsport, and career pathways. With more than 2,000 participants engaged globally in Season 11, the initiative is a key pillar of Formula E’s commitment to gender equality and inclusion in sport.
  • Participants will enjoy a full day of activities including career talks, a Pit Lane Walk, E-Karting, and workshops led by inspirational women from the paddock.
  • On Thursday 15 July, Formula E also co-hosted a special careers-focused event at City Hall in partnership with the Greater London Authority and Local London Careers Hub East, attended by 90 young women from East London schools — supporting the Mayor of London’s drive to make London the global capital for women’s sport in 2025.

Powered by renewable energy

  • The 2025 Marvel Fantastic Four London E-Prix, including the charging of all GEN3 race cars, will be powered by 100% renewable power, coming from a mix of solar, wind and hydroelectric energy sources used by  Excel London’spower provider.

Other sustainability measures

  • Formula E’s flagship STEM and sustainability education programme, Driving Force, Presented by PIF E360, has reached over 50,000 young people globally through live and digital learning. In the lead-up to the London E-Prix, five in-school workshops were delivered in East London and Hammersmith, inspiring the next generation of changemakers. Selected students will attend the race and take part in Inspiration Hour, linking motorsport to future careers in innovation and sustainability. The programme includes curriculum-aligned lesson plans for teachers, self-guided digital learning modules, and live school workshops, and is completely free to access.
  • Inspiration Hour Community Tour: Up to 700 individuals from local schools, charities and organisations focused on inclusion within motorsport and empowering youth through sport, will attend the community tour, providing exclusive behind-the-scenes access ahead of race day and including additional aspects such as a career talk.
  • Ticket Access: Over 900 free tickets have been distributed to local schools, charities, and community groups.
  • Sheltersuit Partnership: Formula E and supplier Spiro have partnered with social enterprise Sheltersuit to transform race branding into over 300 insulated suits for individuals experiencing homelessness — including a minimum of 10 suits donated to Better Futures Fund recipient, Change Please Foundation.
  • Excel London Community Support: Formula E is collaborating with Excel London to support their charity partners, including contributing to Custom House Bookshop’s community garden refurbishment with materials, a new mural painting, and staff volunteers. The team is also supporting Every Child Online by encouraging donations of used digital devices to reduce e-waste and advance digital inclusion.
  • Change. Accelerated. Live.: On Friday 25 July, the Change.Accelerated.Live London presented by PIF thought leadership forum returns to London, bringing together policymakers, industry experts, and innovators to explore solutions for sustainable outcomes. The platform drives collaboration between sport, business and government to unlock climate action and sustainability innovation.
  • Accessibility: Formula E is committed to providing an inclusive and accessible fan experience. Provisions for the London E-Prix include: Full step-free access across the Excel site, Five dedicated accessible viewing platforms, Trained accessibility champions on-site, and clear signage, inclusive services, and wayfinding support.
  • Hydration Stations: Free hydration stations will be available throughout the venue, with over 10,000 reusable eco-cups repurposed from Season 10, reducing single-use plastic waste.
