Announced ahead of the 2025 Sarinah Jakarta E-Prix, taking place Saturday, 21 June, the all-electric FIA World Championship has partnered with the Yayasan Perempuan dan Anak Amirah (Amirah) to support its innovative community led-climate action project - “CLIMATEABILITY: From the Margins to the Frontlines”.
Founded in 2020, Amirah is a grassroots civil society organisation based in Jakarta, Indonesia, dedicated to advancing the rights and leadership of women, children, and marginalised communities—including persons with disabilities.

The funding will enable the delivery of CLIMATEABILITY: From the Margins to the Frontlines, a six-month programme to build inclusive climate leadership. The initiative includes:
- Leadership workshops and digital storytelling training for 50 marginalised individuals
- Accessible content production including a localised Climate Sign Language Glossary in Bisindo (Jakarta Sign Language)
- Support for 5 grassroots teams to implement inclusive eco-projects
- A digital campaign producing over 100 original content pieces
- Community exhibitions, seminars, and a policy roundtable culminating in a joint roadmap for sustainable climate action
- A special emphasis will be placed on the Deaf community and disabled creators to ensure diverse lived experiences are recognised in climate solutions
Formula E’s support of Amirah and its CLIMATEABILITY initiative will help provide essential, community-based climate solutions that empower those most affected by climate change.
As a coastal city of over 10 million people, Jakarta faces acute risks from climate change, including rising sea levels, severe flooding, extreme heat, and air pollution. These conditions have intensified the urgency behind Indonesia’s national capital relocation, driven in part by subsidence and worsening climate-related threats.
Vulnerable groups—particularly persons with disabilities and low-income communities—are disproportionately affected by these impacts. Through CLIMATEABILITY, Amirah is building an inclusive movement for climate action, ensuring that the voices and leadership of those at the margins are brought to the forefront.
The Better Futures Fund is a cornerstone of Formula E’s “Formula Equity” social impact strategy, which focuses on tackling inequality and empowering underrepresented communities across the globe.
For Season 11, Formula E has significantly increased the Fund’s total to €250,000, with a €25,000 grant allocated to a local charity in each of its ten race markets – more than doubling last season’s commitment of €100,000.
Engagement during Race Week:
Formula E’s engagement with the Amirah extends beyond funding, with collaborative activities planned during race week. As part of Jakarta’s Formula E Race Week, CLIMATEABILITY will launch with a Kick-Off Event and Exhibition celebrating inclusive climate innovation. Planned activities include:
- A public seminar on eco-ableism
- A sign language workshop and launch of the Jakarta Climate Sign Language Glossary
- Community mapping and storytelling sessions
- An art and digital showcase featuring works by disabled creators such as Elo, Arihlystia, and Yyosuadiputt
Community participants will also be invited to attend Formula E's Inspiration Hour and race events at the track, aligning with Formula E’s Formula Equity strategy.
Julia Pallé, VP of Sustainability, Formula E, said: “We are proud to partner with Amirah on this vital initiative. CLIMATEABILITY is a powerful model for inclusive, community-driven climate leadership.
"This project embodies the spirit of our Formula Equity strategy—putting inclusion, empowerment, and local leadership at the heart of climate action.
"Through the Better Futures Fund, we are committed to supporting solutions that elevate underrepresented voices and create lasting impact beyond the racetrack.”
Rahmatul Furqan, Programme Coordinator, Yayasan Perempuan dan Anak Amirah, said: "The support from Formula E enables our project to significantly empower marginalized communities—particularly youth, women, and people with disabilities—in Jakarta to engage in climate action.
"Through inclusive training programs, adaptive communication tools, and the revitalization of underutilized community spaces, the project aims to foster greater climate awareness and grassroots resilience.
"By integrating local wisdom with digital education on climate change, we will offer programs such as community storytelling workshops, digital literacy training, accessible information kits, and participatory urban greening.
"With Formula E’s support, we envision lasting improvements in environmental education, social inclusion, and local leadership in climate action—contributing to Jakarta’s broader sustainability goals."
