Formula E's Trackmania Season 2 roundup, with its Tokyo finale set for 15 May

The collaboration between the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship and Ubisoft's Trackmania races through its second season, bridging the gap between real-world motorsport and virtual racing.

This season, the integration has reached new heights with the implementation of three iconic Formula E circuits within the game: Sao Paulo, Diriyah, and most recently, Miami. These additions have provided Trackmania players with fresh and exciting challenges.

Sao Paulo: A Thrilling Start

The season kicked off in Trackmania with the introduction of the Sao Paulo E-Prix circuit. Known for its vibrant atmosphere and challenging layout, the virtual recreation captured the essence of the real-world track. The circuit's mix of fast straights and tight, technical corners provided a demanding experience for players, testing their precision and car control. The Sao Paulo track launched on 4 December, 2024, coinciding with the build up for the Formula E season opener.

Diriyah: Desert Duel

Next in line was the Diriyah Street Circuit in Saudi Arabia, a track renowned for its unique desert backdrop and flowing, high-speed sections interspersed with tricky, narrow parts. The Trackmania version, released on 12 February, 2025, immersed players in this distinctive environment, complete with virtual palm trees and traditional architecture.

The narrow, winding sections demanded full concentration, offering a different kind of challenge compared to the Sao Paulo track.

Miami: Night Lights and Fast Lines

The most recent round on the Formula E roster in Trackmania was the Miami E-Prix circuit. Launched on 9 April, 2025, this track brings the high-octane action of the Miami race to the virtual world.

Set against the backdrop of the illuminated Miami skyline at night, the track is a fast and technical circuit, with a distinctively American flair. Its blend of flowing corners, tight chicanes, and long straights promises a dynamic racing experience, requiring both technical skill and strategic prowess from the drivers.

The Ongoing Competition

Beyond simply experiencing these virtual representations of real-world circuits, the Trackmania season includes an ongoing championship.

Players can compete on these meticulously designed tracks, experiencing the unique Formula E game mode. This incorporates elements of real Formula E racing, such as:

  • Energy Management: Players must strategically manage their virtual car's energy consumption, balancing speed with efficiency to complete the race. Releasing the acceleration saves battery, adding a layer of tactical depth.
  • ATTACK MODE: Just like in the real races, players can activate an "ATTACK MODE" by driving through a designated zone on the track. This provides a temporary boost in speed, but each player has a limited number of activations per race.
  • Qualifying Sessions: Before each race, players participate in a 15-minute qualifying session to set their best lap time. Their performance in qualifying determines their division for the main race.
  • Evolving Weather: Adding another layer of realism and challenge, the weather conditions within the virtual races can change dynamically, potentially including rain that affects car handling.

Each of the six races in the
Trackmania Formula E Championship offers a €1,000 prize pool for the top finishers. Furthermore, a €4,000 prize pool will be awarded to the top five players on the global leaderboard at the end of the season, incentivizing consistent performance across all the events.
