It was another productive practice in Monte Carlo, with Dan Ticktum continuing his impressive run of form in the principality to go quickest in Free Practice 2. The Brit – one of the stars of the new Formula E: Driver documentary on Amazon Prime – managed a final time of 1m27.779s.
Jake Dennis was second, despite not setting a 350kwh lap, with Mahindra Racing continuing to look very strong this weekend. Edoardo Mortara finished third, and teammate Nyck de Vries was sixth. Mitch Evans, last year’s victor, had a better session to slot into fourth at the flag.
As it happened…
Nick Cassidy was back on track after a powertrain problem with a cooling duct meant he finished the first session in his garage with limited running. Jaguar have been on the podium here over the last four seasons, with Cassidy winning this prestigious race in Season 9 for Envision Racing.
At this event last year, Sam Bird spent second free practice having x-rays after sustaining a hand injury earlier in the day. He was ruled out of the race, allowing Taylor Barnard to make his debut with the team. This time around he was flying early on in the session, going quickest during the start of the session.
However, it didn’t take long for Ticktum to continue his strong run of form and go top again. It’s the place he remained as the chequered flag fell for the last practice before qualifying, as nobody could top his time of 1m26.779s.
There were off track moments for the Maserati MSG Racing of Jake Hughes and the DS PENSKE of Jean-Eric Vergne who ended up in the run off at St Devote, but both quickly turned themselves around and got going again.
