Salvador Duran was delighted to return to single-seater racing following an absence of more than four years when he made his Formula E debut at the Punta del Este ePrix.
Duran received a late call up to join the Amlin Aguri team, yet despite this he was one of the three drivers to receive the FanBoost vote. He endured a tough race, and was classified in 16th, but despite this he was thrilled to be back.
“I think it’s a great series – very exciting and I enjoyed it so much,” he said. “I don’t even know how the deal came about. It was really late but for me this kind of series, with all the innovations, it was great to come here and I’m very happy to join this team.”
Duran’s last raced single-seaters in 2010 in Formula Renault 3.5 and he admits there’s not been much racing since.
“I’ve been doing nothing! For me it was incredible to arrive and drive. I think it was four years ago that I did a Formula race in Europe and it was quite a long time but I enjoyed it so much.”
