TAG Heuer Porsche’s Antonio Felix da Costa finished second, with Nyck de Vries in third for Mahindra Racing. Mitch Evans crossed the chequered flag in fourth for the Jaguar TCS Team and Andretti’s Jake Dennis completing the top five at the team’s home race.

The times keep falling as the grid familarise themselves with the Homestead circuit, ahead of qualifying which starts at 09:40 local time.

As it happened…

Despite the cooler temperatures this morning, it didn’t take long for the grid to get up to speed at this new circuit. Taylor Barnard was the first to improve on yesterday’s time, setting a 1m23.339s just under halfway into the session. There was a McLaren one-two until both Mahindra Racing drivers slotted into second and third, becoming the meat in a papaya sandwich!

Nico Mueller Replay 1

FP2 then came to a stop after Andretti’s Nico Mueller suffered a lock up going into Turn 12 on his first 350kWh lap, making contact with the barriers and causing significant damage to his front wing and suspension. He limped back to the pits but the session was red flagged to clear up the debris, and Mueller was forced to watch the rest of the practice from the Andretti garage. His car should be fixed in time for qualifying at 09:40 local time.

DS PENSKE Jean-Eric Vergne also brought out the yellow flags during the final moments after a spin coming into the first corner, going over the grass and into the run off.
