Taylor Barnard made history once again in Formula E, scooping the record for the youngest-ever Julius Baer Pole Position holder aged 20 years and 259 days. It’s the latest in a long run of achievements for the NEOM McLaren driver, who is just three races into his first full-time season in the all-electric championship.

On Friday in Jeddah he scooped a well-deserved third place, which can be added to his other piece of silverware that he got when he finished third in São Paulo. Despite his young age, Barnard has been taking on some of the most successful names in motorsport and is certainly gaining plenty of respect up and down the paddock.
Discussing his maiden pole position, Barnard described the moment as “absolutely incredible”.
“The car's been on fire all weekend. Obviously, yesterday was my first experience of the Duels. I said I would learn from my mistakes, and obviously I did. I couldn't be happy right now.
“I've ticked all the boxes besides [winning a race], so that's my target. We have the car to do it. We had a very good car yesterday, and obviously, starting from pole, we're in the best position, so I'll do my best.
Barnard will line up alongside his former mentor Oliver Rowland, with the two knowing each other since Taylor was in karting. There have been plenty of wholesome moments over the weekend, with the two sharing a podium together for the first time in Formula E on Friday.
“He helped me in my career, so to race against him in the same team as we share the Nissan powertrain feels very good.”
Which Formula E records does Taylor Barnard hold?
As well as youngest driver to achieve pole position, Barnard also became the all-electric championship's youngest podium finisher at just 20 years old and 189 days in São Paulo. Add this to his record of youngest driver to start a race from Monaco earlier this year, as well as youngest points scorer in Berlin, and it's quite the collection of achievements.
