Maximilian Guenther achieved his first Julius Baer Pole Position since signing for new team DS PENSKE, as he lines alongside TAG Heuer Porsche’s Pascal Wehrlein on the front row of the grid. It was a fascinating session, with drivers pushing their cars to the limits around the Jeddah Corniche Circuit ahead of the maiden race later today.
Taylor Barnard had a fantastic session for NEOM McLaren to start on the second row of the grid with Nissan’s Oliver Rowland.

Conditions are very different to the race that will be held at 20:00 local time this evening, with it promising to be an exciting race with the introduction of the highly-anticipated PIT BOOST.
Final
There has never been an all-German front row until this event, but it was Maximilian Guenther who took the three additional points and first place grid slot from Pascal Wehrlein for this maiden Jeddah E-Prix. It was a clean lap from Guenther, who achieved his first pole since Season 9 in Jakarta.
Semi Final
Taylor Barnard went up against Guenther for the first Semi Final, but it was the German driver who got the better lap and earned himself a place in the Final. Nevertheless, it was a great effort from Barnard in his first Formula E Duel.
Next was Rowland versus Wehrlein, with Wehrlein looking to earn his third consecutive pole position. Despite his best efforts, Rowland in his Nissan wasn’t able to prevent the Porsche from progressing and will start on the second row of the grid alongside Barnard.
Quarter Finals
The first duo in the Duels were de Vries and Guenther, and it was the DS PENSKE pilot to progress to the next stage with the fastest lap by almost eight tenths.
Next up was NEOM McLaren rookie Taylor Barnard and 13-time Formula E winner Mitch Evans. Both looked very comfortable around the Corniche circuit, and were separated by just 0.002s at one point on their lap. However, it was Barnard who got the better lap together to get through to the Semi Finals.

Jake Hughes battled Pascal Wehrlein in the third Quarter Final, but it was the Porsche driver who finished his lap almost a second quicker than the Maserati MSG Racing of Hughes.
Rowland and Dan Ticktum then took to the track, but a mistake on Tikctum’s lap resulted in his lap time being deleted meaning the Nissan driver was automatically promoted.
Group A
Taylor Barnard was locking in purple sectors on his way to topping the first group session. A great early lap saw him go quickest in all three sectors, before improving further on his final lap.
Maximilian Guenther found himself in second and through to the Duels for the third consecutive race at his new DS PENSKE team, with Nyck de Vries going quicker in his final lap to go third.
Mitch Evans took the final spot in the Duels from Group A, with his teammate Nick Cassidy just missing out on a spot after finishing fifth and 0.156s off Evans’ lap time.
Championship leader Antonio Felix da Costa could only manage seventh place, and will have a big task ahead of him to make up places in the maiden Jeddah E-Prix later today. Robin Frijns in his Envision also suffered a spin and was forced finish the session in last.
Group B
Oliver Rowland continued his strong run of form and topped the second group of qualifying with a flying last lap – going purple in first and third sectors. He was joined by Jake Hughes, reigning champion Pascal Wehrlein and CUPRA KIRO’s Dan Ticktum.
Jean-Eric Vergne just missed out on a chance at the Duels, with Nissan’s Norman Nato down in sixth despite looking fast so far in Jeddah. Jake Dennis was forced to abort his last attempt after making a mistake in the final part of the lap.
