Nissan’s Oliver Rowland was quickest for the first Free Practice session in Jeddah, with his teammate Norman Nato taking the second place slot. It’s a promising start for the Nissan powertrains, especially with NEOM McLaren’s Sam Bird finishing the session in fourth.

Mahindra Racing’s Edoardo Mortara was third, continuing the strong run of form from the team after Kush Miani went quickest during the Rookie Free Practice earlier in the day.
CUPRA KIRO’s Dan Ticktum rounded out the top five, with reigning World Champion Pascal Wehrlein (TAG Heuer Porsche) in sixth. Stoffel Vandoorne finished seventh for Maserati MSG Racing, with Antonio Felix da Costa in eighth, DS PENSKE’s Maximilian Guenther ninth, and Jaguar TCS Racing’s Mitch Evans 10th.
The first free practice for our Season 11 grid got underway at 21:00 local on Thursday evening, with all 22 full-time drivers heading out under the Jeddah floodlights. There was early drama between Pascal Wehrlein and Oliver Rowland, with the two coming close to contact as they scoped out the circuit.
Jake Hughes set a great lap when using the 350kWh halfway into the session, going over a second a half quicker than Rowland who was in P1 before the Maserati MSG Racing driver knocked him off the top spot. DS PENSKE’s Jean-Eric Vergne and teammate Maximilian Guenther then slotted into second and third respectively, however were later both investigated for a PIT BOOST infringement.
Zane Maloney and Lucas di Grassi received a drop of 20 grid positions for breaking the seal on their respective MGUs after Lola Yamaha ABT sought permission to perform checks and resolve a technical issue post-Round 2.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been a part of the Formula E calendar since Season 5, but for the first time we’re heading to Jeddah. Host to the fist double-header of the GEN3 Evo era, the grid will be racing under the floodlights on Friday 14 and Saturday 15 February 2025.
