With qualifying just around the corner for the first of two races around the Portland International Raceway, here are the three individuals that have been handed grid drops from the FIA.

NEOM McLaren’s Sam Bird will serve a five-place grid penalty for “causing a collision” with Nyck de Vries in Shanghai at Turn 11.

For ABT CUPRA’s Lucas di Grassi, he was given two separate sanctions for offences in Shanghai. The Season 3 champ was handed a three-place grid drop for “forcing” Jehan Daruvala off the track at Turn 6, as well as another for doing the same to Dan Ticktum at Turn 12 of the Shanghai International Circuit.

The final penalty was announced overnight, as Andretti’s Norman Nato reached three reprimands over the season which resulted in a 10-place grid-penalty. The Frenchman, who got his first podium for the team last time out in China, has looked rapid all weekend but will now be forced to drop behind on the starting grid.

As well as the grid penalties, DS PENSKE were fined €5,000 and deducted of a yellow pass after one of their guests were found to be taking notes of tyre usage of other competitors wearing a bronze pass.
