As we rapidly approach the race weekend in São Paulo, one team are definitely the early favourites based on their performance here last season. Jaguar and their powertrains managed to lock out the top three here, with a double Jaguar TCS Racing podium and customers Envision Racing slotting into second.
Mitch Evans won the race but not by much as he was separated but just 0.284s to Nick Cassidy, which places them eighth on the closest winning margins in Formula E’s history! Sam Bird finished in third; the top three were separated by 0.507s.

With Round 4 just around the corner, Jaguar currently lead both the Teams’ Standings and Drivers’ World Championship with Nick Cassidy – the only man who has stood on every podium this year so far.
“It has been a very positive beginning to the 2024 season, but in this extremely competitive World Championship we very much realise that this is only the start,” James Barclay, Jaguar TCS Racing Team Principal said ahead of their Brazilian E-Prix weekend.
“We have taken a lot of positives and motivation from the first three races but also have been able to use the break in the race calendar to regroup and dissect our learnings as we prepare for our return to the track in Brazil.
“São Paulo is a wonderful city and circuit, it holds very fond memories for us as a team. Last year finishing first and third, with all three podium positions occupied by Jaguar powertrains, was a key milestone for us all. Celebrating with the Brazilian fans who love their motorsport was also incredible. We have seen how competitive this season is shaping up to be and we know it’s going to be very close across all teams and drivers, but we are approaching the race with optimism and will be doing our best to fight for points and podiums.”
Last season in São Paulo was the second time that Jaguar had a double podium in Formula E, the first occasion being in Rome 2021 with Evans and Bird second and third respectively. It was also the first occasion the powertrain supplier had locked out the top three podium positions in Formula E.

“São Paulo was my first win of 2023 and a turning point in the season for when we really started building momentum as a team,” Evans added when reminiscing about last year’s victory. “The track flows really nicely and is a great street circuit. The Brazilian fans always create a fantastic atmosphere too. São Paulo will be a great opportunity for me to gain more crucial points for the team and close the gap in the Drivers’ Championship.”
For his new teammate Cassidy, who had a win in Diriyah in Round 3 and podium finishes in the first two races, he tops the standings with 19 points.
“I’ve had a dream start to Season 10, three podiums in three races,” Cassidy stated. “As we know, this championship can be very unpredictable, but I’m looking to maintain my strong form.
“Last season I finished P2 in São Paulo behind Mitch. I know how the Jaguar I-TYPE 6 powertrain performs round this circuit, which gives me a lot of confidence heading into the weekend.”
