Another fiesta in the Foro Sol
The Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez has hosted six races in Formula E's history and the circuit has always delivered some thrilling on-track action across the years.
It's a fast and flowing circuit unlike some of the other stop-and-go layouts on the calendar with a series of combination acceleration and deceleration corners, feeding into a couple of chicanes and fast straights - the Foro Sol stadium is the trickiest section, with a series of tight turns in-front of a packed crowd.
Podium potentials
Andretti's Jake Dennis arrives in Mexico City at the perfect location to start his title defence. The British driver opened up his title-winning season in dominant fashion here just 12 months ago. Taking the lead just before the halfway point and checking out in typical Dennis fashion.
Dennis became only the third person in Formula E history to win the championship after winning the opening round. But how heavy will that number one emblazoned on the front of his Andretti machine prove to be?
Porsche controlled the start of last season, firstly with the Stuttgart power underneath the Andretti of Dennis but also with the factory pair of Pascal Wehrlein and Antonio Felix da Costa.
The German, in particular, goes well in Mexico. He's led more laps than any other driver in Mexico City with 64 laps. He picked up second last year his second podium around the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez after scoring a debut win for himself and TAG Heuer Porsche the in 2022.
It'll be interesting to see where the powertrain pendulum swings in Mexico. Jaguar pulled a strong haul of points in at the end of the season from both the factory Jaguar TCS Racing team and the customer Envision Racing outfit.
Heading into the first round, and if testing is to have any say, that Jaguar power could be looking handy. Mitch Evans and new recruit Nick Cassidy cleaned up in the timesheets.
A one-two finish could be on the cards for the New Zealanders, it's just a case of which one comes out on top. Evans has the most recent success of the two here, leading start-to-finish after getting the jump into Turn 1.
Last season, the customers spoiled the fun of the factory teams on a fair few occasions, and there's another wildcard in the mix for Season 10. Robin Frijns is back with the Envision squad and is looking right back at home.
The Dutchman, who spent four seasons with the team, was immediately quick in Valencia and was victorious in the simulation race. That was testing, but it's a great first start for Frijns after his season was abruptly halted with a broken wrist in the opening race in 2023.
One lap pace
It's still Wehrlein who has the most poles in Mexico - three in total, two here and a third in Puebla. Pole has only been converted into a win on two occasions, with Wehrlein being one of them in that dominant lights-to-flag debut win in 2022.
But it's a fresh slate and the competitive Duels are once again the order of business. Dennis is joint with DS PENSKE's Stoffel Vandoorne with the most appearances with 20 apiece, and the Brit has the longest streak with seven visits to the Duels in a row.
Evans has the most Duels appearances from last season with 12, but just missed out in Mexico last year. The driver with the best average is NEOM McLaren's Jake Hughes, the Brit has a 64.3% win rate and was quick right out of the blocks in his rookie season. He's not longer a rookie now, can he wrestle another pole this weekend?
