The final two rounds of the FIA Formula E World Championship in London had to be seen to be believed. We had it all, two intense championship battles for both the Drivers’ and Teams’ standings, teammates crashing, heavy rain on a half indoor-outdoor circuit and so much more. Here's how social media reacted to the biggest moments of the weekend.

The moment everything changed

One of the biggest stories from the weekend occurred on the Saturday, when Jake Dennis (Avalanche Andretti) and Nick Cassidy (Envision Racing) were fighting for the Drivers' World Championship. Dennis was 24 points ahead, but Cassidy had started from first place and had the advantage during Round 15 until a dramatic moment occurred, where he made contact with his teammate Sebastien Buemi. Forced to drop back with a broken front wing, the Kiwi eventually retired which would hand the title to his rival Dennis.

Evans makes it four wins in Season 9

He was in with a mathematic chance of the title when he arrived in London, and Jaguar TCS Racing's Mitch Evans did everything he could to take the fight up until the final moments. He not only got three points for the fastest lap in qualifying - although a Rome E-Prix penalty saw him start sixth - he battled the tough competition on track to win his fourth E-Prix of Season 9.

Dennis is crowned champion at home!

However, there was one story which dominated the social space and that was Jake Dennis doing enough to secure the Drivers' World Championship in front of his home crowd in London. The Brit also secured his tenth podium of the year which was a new record, but one he'd break the following day anyway.

The fans were loving it

You certainly can't say the racing wasn't entertaining, as fans online agreed with in the final moments of Round 15!

Typical British Summer Time

From the extreme heats in Rome, to pouring rain in London, we've experienced our fair share of weather conditions in the last few races of Season 9. However, for Round 16 the clouds opened and a heavy rain cloud hit the ExCel centre for both qualifying and the race. With the circuit being so unique in its half indoor and half outdoor design, it made for some exceptional racing and great displays of talent.

Cassidy redemption

After his brutal end to the chances of the title, Cassidy came back the next day and dominated proceedings. The Envision man achieved the Julius Baer Pole Position and led every lap of the rain-impacted race to lock in his fourth victory of the season. His fantastic performance was also enough to help his team Envision Racing clinch the Teams' Championship for the first time.
