The special livery, designed in collaboration with Liberty Walk (an automotive lifestyle brand based in Japan), will feature on both Andretti cars this weekend as Formula E returns to Japan for its first-ever night double-header in the capital city.
PREVIEW: Two in Tokyo at night as Formula E prepares for Rounds 14 and 15
Inspired by Liberty Walk’s iconic LB-Works GT-R and Skyline Silhouette builds, the special livery blends Andretti Formula E’s racing pedigree with one of the most recognizable visual identities in global car culture. Chrome bodywork, bold blue detailing, kanji typography and Liberty Walk branding celebrate Japanese car culture while embracing the futuristic spirit of Formula E.
In addition to the car livery, Andretti drivers Jake Dennis and Felipe Drugovich will race in bespoke race suits, while other team members will trade their team apparel for clothing pieces influenced by Liberty Walk’s signature aesthetic.
Ahead of the race weekend, the team will host a fan-facing event on Wednesday, July 22 at Liberty Walk’s Harajuku store, where Andretti Formula E drivers will arrive in a modified Nissan Skyline ER34 carrying the matching chrome and blue design before parking alongside the GEN3 Evo.
Fans will also have the opportunity to purchase a limited-edition merchandise collection featuring a collaborative T-shirt, keychain and die-cast model car.
Roger Griffiths, Andretti Formula E Team Principal, said: “It’s not often that two iconic brands have the opportunity to come together and create something truly unique, so we’re incredibly excited about what we’ll be bringing to Tokyo this week. What started as a conversation between a group of car enthusiasts from both Andretti Formula E and Liberty Walk during our visit to Tokyo a year ago has grown into a remarkable collaboration that celebrates the culture and passion for cars that exists throughout Japan.
Kato and his team at Liberty Walk have built one of the most recognisable brands in global car culture, and their influence extends well beyond automotive tuning. At its heart, this partnership is about bringing together fans of racing, car culture, fashion and lifestyle through a shared passion for automotive innovation. There’s no better place to do that than Tokyo, and we’re looking forward to sharing the full activation with fans throughout the week.”
Wataru Kato, Liberty Walk Group Founder, said: “At Liberty Walk, we are always looking for new ways to express our passion for cars and connect with enthusiasts around the world. Working with the Andretti Formula E team has given us the opportunity to bring our signature style to one of the most advanced racecars in motorsport and create something truly unique. We are very proud to partner with such a historic and iconic brand as Andretti on this special project.
Japan is our home and being part of Formula E’s first-ever pair of night races here makes this collaboration even more special. We’re proud of what we’ve created together and can’t wait for fans to see the Andretti Liberty Walk Edition on track this weekend.”
