Jake Dennis celebrated an emotional one-two result for Andretti, their first in Formula E, as he crossed the line alongside teammate Felipe Drugovich in Sanya. The race, which delivered the typical chaos and excitement, including a red flag interlude, saw high temperatures and big strategy on Hainan Island.

“Oh, honestly, I’m quite emotional,” Dennis said of the result, his second victory of the season after another first place at São Paulo. “It was an incredible race. I didn't think the red flag helped us at the worst possible stage, but we managed to turn it around and we were super efficient on those last 15 laps.”

Felipe Drugovich also managed his second Formula E podium, after making his debut in the top three in Monaco last time out.

“An Andretti one-two, and to see Felipe on my gearbox towards the end was a nice surprise,” Season 9 Formula E World Champion Dennis added. “It’s really difficult to manage these races and we both did perfectly. So super happy.

“My engineers were amazing at keeping me calm and keeping me on the level playing field, and they’re the best in the business for that, and they did that today. The win looked pretty slim at one point when the Nissans and Jaguars arrived with two ATTACK MODEs, but we were so quick at the end, the car was so good, and we deserve this.”

Dennis looked visibly emotional at his accomplishment, and when asked about the reasoning he confessed it had been a tough week for his family.

“I'm thinking of my partner's family right now. It's been a lot at home lately, and to get the win for [my father-in-law], it means a lot to me. It's just an amazing day. I never get emotional. My fiancée will be like, ‘he never cries, but to do it for Bob is a big big thing”.
