Better Futures Fund:
Through the Better Futures Fund, launched in Season 10, we invest directly in local organisations that are creating meaningful change in the communities where we race.
The initiative reflects a simple belief: Formula E should leave a positive legacy long after race day has ended.
In Season 12, Formula E will contribute €25,000 to a local organisation in every host city through the Better Futures Fund, supporting projects that address local social and environmental challenges. Since its launch in Season 10, the programme has supported organisations including Associacao PiPA in São Paulo and Miami EdTech, helping strengthen communities through targeted, locally-led action.
Driving Force, presented by PIF:
Creating a more sustainable future requires more than technological innovation - it requires education, inspiration and empowerment. That belief led to the creation of Driving Force, Formula E's flagship sustainability education programme for children aged 8-12, presented by PIF E360.
Relaunched in 2025, Driving Force introduces young people to some of the most important challenges and opportunities shaping the future.Combining digital learning resources, teacher lesson plans, school workshops and race-week activations, the programme uses the excitement of motorsport to make sustainability and STEM careers accessible, engaging and relevant.
The programme has rapidly become Formula E's largest-reaching social impact initiative, helping extend sustainability education to over 70,000 young people around the world to date and demonstrating the power of sport as a platform for learning and inspiration.
B Corp:
In January 2026, Formula E became the world's first B Corp Certified sport.
This landmark achievement recognised more than a decade of leadership in using sport as a force for positive change, validating Formula E's commitment to balancing purpose and performance across governance, environmental stewardship, community impact and business operations.
The certification reflects the strength of Formula E's sustainability strategy, including robust environmental standards across race events, meaningful community investment programmes, industry-leading worker wellbeing practices and a commitment to transparency and accountability.
Becoming the first sport to achieve B Corp certification is not an end point; it is another milestone in Formula E's journey to demonstrate how sport can drive positive outcomes for people, business and the planet simultaneously.
Global sustainability benchmark in sport (GSBS):
Formula E's leadership continues to be independently recognised by leading sustainability benchmarking organisations.
In 2025, Formula E topped the Global Sustainability Benchmark in Sport (GSBS) for the fourth consecutive year, retaining its position as the world's most sustainable sport.
The independent CESG assessment ranked Formula E first overall while also leading the Environmental and Social categories. Among 78 organisations assessed across 11 countries, Formula E achieved a score of 85/100, outperforming the sporting industry average by almost 30 points and maintaining a clear lead over major global sports organisations.
This continued recognition reflects Formula E's commitment to embedding sustainability into every aspect of its operations, governance and growth.
BSI’s Net Zero Pathway:
Formula E became the first sport in the world certified to BSI’s Net Zero Pathway, reaffirming its leadership position in global sports sustainability. Setting this new benchmark showcases credible climate action and confirms the robust, science-based emissions reduction targets in place.
This is supported by a verified carbon footprint and a management system aligned with the ISO Net Zero Guidelines, the globally recognised framework for Net Zero strategies.
The standard also keeps the Championship ahead of tightening regulatory requirements like the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), ensuring sponsors, teams, partners and fans can trust the credibility of its climate and sustainability claims.
GEN4:
The forthcoming GEN4 race car represents the next chapter in electric racing innovation. Designed to deliver unprecedented performance with a peak output of 600kW (815bhp), GEN4 demonstrates how cutting-edge technology can coexist with ambitious sustainability objectives.
It will be the world's first racing car designed to be 100% recyclable or reusable, with at least 20% recycled materials incorporated into key components. Its tyres will contain 65% renewable and recycled materials, while the battery will contain no rare earth minerals.
