The ABB FIA Formula E Championship has today (September 15) signed the EU 2030 letter, which supports the UN’s global Race to Zero campaign for a decarbonised economy that guards against future threats, creates quality employment opportunities and nurtures inclusive, sustainable growth.
Formula E was one of almost 150 businesses invited by the UN to sign the EU 2030 letter, which calls for the support of European leaders in avoiding the worst effects of climate change and securing a sustainable, competitive economic recovery by:
- Endorsing the ambitions of the European Green Deal
- Submitting resilient recovery plans, enabling the green investments needed to deliver climate neutrality
- Agreeing a clearly defined target to reduce domestic greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55 percent by 2030 and associated objectives
Jamie Reigle, CEO of Formula E, said: “The ABB FIA Formula E Championship fully supports the UN’s 2030 Race to Zero targets to reduce emissions. We remain focused on reducing our own carbon footprint and aligning our emissions to climate science by 2030. We believe in the power of working together to create better futures for generations to come.”
