Mitch Evans managed a masterclass in Berlin, going from 17th and climbing up the grid to the very top spot to earn his second win of the season. It marks the fourth P1 result in eight races for Jaguar TCS Racing, and Evans’ 16th victory in Formula E – extending his record as the driver with the most wins in the championship's history.
His strategy was a unique one for Tempelhof, using an old set of tyres for qualifying in order to save a new set across the race at a track when tyre degradation is high. Starting near the back meant he was able to reserve energy whilst those ahead saw their percentages decrease as the race went on.
Then towards the end, and after the ATTACK MODES, Evans timed it to perfection to launch to the front of the pack and keep Oliver Rowland’s Nissan at bay.
“I'm feeling good,” Evans stated after the second and final race of the Berlin double-header. “We had a clear strategy after FP3 with what we wanted to do with qualifying, the tyres, and the approach in the race, because I was kind of guaranteed to start towards the back and just it kind of all went the way I was expecting or hoping for.

“The team backed me on that call [regarding tyres], and then together we executed a perfect race. We were patient early on, then attacked at the right time and I felt comfortable once we got to the front.
“It's not easy to execute these races, but the timing of the ATTACK MODE, and everything, was just spot on. A real collective effort between me and my strategy team to get this type of race executed.
“But still, in the back of my mind, my one-lap pace is still not quite there, so I'll keep working on that and Monaco is very much a track position type of track.
“We’ll look to take this momentum to Monaco which feels like a home race to me.”
