Here's what happened to Oliver Rowland at the end of the Misano E-Prix

The Nissan driver stopped suddenly from the lead of the race on the final lap in dramatic scenes.

TAG Heuer Porsche’s Pascal Wehrlein was able to take the lead on the final lap of the Misano E-Prix to win Round 7, as a technical blip caused Nissan's Oliver Rowland to run out of energy in the race's final moments. 

In a strange set of circumstances, Rowland suffered a technical issue that gave him false information as to when the race distance was done. The problem, which came at the start of the race, meant that when Rowland crossed the start line on the first lap the car dropped a lap when it shouldn’t have done. 

"I guess you win some, you lose some," Rowland stated after the race. This result also brings a harsh end to the four consecutive podium finishes he's had from Diriyah until Saturday's win in Misano.

"It's hard. I feel like we did everything right, positioned ourselves well and the car was fast in the corners, just a bit disappointed.

"It sounds like something was missed on the grid, and when I crossed the line at the start it counted down a lap, which it shouldn't so I had one less lap the whole race.

"We raced well and we were super efficient when we were behind as well," he continued. 'I know now I had one lap less but I would have had no problem making it to the end just sitting third, fourth or fifth when that was the target, but when we have targets on the dash and a plan to take the lead when we get to a certain point of the race and that's what I did, and it did feel a bit too good to be true at the time. It's just one of those things, we win and we lose as a team.

Interview: "I'm still wondering if I am going to wake up" says Rowland on recent successes 

"We did four podiums in the row and won yesterday, so we have to be grateful. I think coming here we would have taken 25, 26 points - it's disappointing but it's racing, you get over it and bounce back."

Nissan will hope to come back fighting in Monaco, with the race in the iconic principality just less than two weeks away.
