Rowland: "I'm still wondering if I'm going to wake up"

After his fourth podium in four races, and having inherited the Round 6 victory, Nissan's Oliver Rowland speaks on his recent run of performances.

Oliver Rowland has had a dream comeback to Formula E; the 31-year-old has picked up two Julius Baer Pole Positions, four podiums, and now a win. Although he finished second, he inherited the victory following a post-race disqualification for TAG Heuer Porsche and their winning driver Antonio Felix da Costa.

He currently leads the Drivers’ Championship on 80 points and is looking to make it five pieces of silverware in a row as Round 7 approaches. Talking about his recent run of results, and ending up in the top three once again in Misano, Rowland defines it as a “nice surprise".

HIGHLIGHTS: The 2024 Misano E-Prix, Round 6

“I'm still wondering if I'm going to wake up,” he told Formula E after the race. “Look, the team deserves it. I deserve it. We have all worked hard, so let's enjoy it while we can. We know it's not going to last forever, but I am enjoying myself at the moment.”

Rowland previously raced with Nissan from Season 5 until Season 7, but made the switch to Mahindra Racing from Season 8. That contract was brought to a premature end half way through last season, but Rowland returned to Nissan for Season 10.

"We've had a strong start to the year and we maximized our performance again today,” the now two-time race winner said. “We expected a tricky race on a track that requires high efficiency, but the car was great. We managed the energy well and the strategy was spot on. We had to adapt during the race as it was a chaotic one.

STANDINGS: Here's how the Season 10 Drivers' World Championship looks

“The start was fast and I dropped back a few places, but quickly re-gained them. We were in a strong position for the second half, and once we matched our energy target we pushed on. It's amazing to be leading the championship but there's a long way to go so our full focus is on tomorrow."
