The British are coming...
London has been good to the Brits, in six rounds at the UK capital the home grown talent have a 50% win rate, thanks to victories from Sam Bird at Battersea Park and then Jake Dennis and Alex Lynn sharing the top step of the podium in the double-header at the ExCel London circuit in 2021.
Of last year's London winners, Dennis is the only one lining up on the grid, the Avalanche Andretti star was on rails when Formula E took to this unique indoor/outdoor circuit in the East End. A perfectly calculated ATTACK MODE saw him take track position and the lead from compatriot Lynn, with Dennis then checking out and controlling the race with a fast and economical drive out front.
So far this season Dennis has been marooned in the mid-pack, yet to recapture that race-winning form that saw him take two victories in his rookie season. There have been flashes of brilliance here and there, a podium in the opening round in Diriyah and while he was beaten in the Final of the duels in Rome, his stunning lap leading to that pole shootout was the quickest of the weekend. If he can find the pace in London he'll be a danger man.
With only four rounds left, Sam Bird is running out of road to continue his record of winning a race in every Formula E season to date. As mentioned earlier, the Londoner has a victory at home from when Formula E originally visited the UK city in 2015.
PREVIEW: Everything you need to know ahead of the SABIC London E-Prix
It's a big race for Bird and the legendary British marque Jaguar, if there was ever a race to return to the top step it's this one. While he's had some struggles this year and seen his Jaguar TCS Racing team-mate Mitch Evans romp to victory on three occasions and be firmly in place for the title battle.
Theres's positives for Bird though, he arrives at London ExCeL after a decent points haul in New York City and noteworthy drive climbing up 11 places from starting 17th on the grid to finish fifth - a run on pure race craft and solid strategy. After hanging out with the London Lions basketball team ahead of the race, will it be a slam-dunk for Bird this weekend?

It was a whirlwind of emotions for debut race winner Nick Cassidy in the New York City double-header two weeks ago. It went from a fairytale in New York to a series of unfortunate events.
With a flash of rain putting race-leader Cassidy and the other front-runners into the wall and out of action in Round 11, his debut victory came later with the race ended and celebrations away from the pile of green bodywork and carbon fibre that was once his all-electric Gen2 machine.
JACK NICHOLLS: 'Title-winning experience could hand Vergne edge in four-way fight'
Returning the following day with a fully rebuilt car, Cassidy made it a clean-sweep securing his second Julius Baer Pole Position of the weekend. Unfortunately for the New Zealander he had to relinquish that front row start after receiving a penalty for a technical infringement.
In his rookie campaign Cassidy left London with 11th and seventh around this challenging circuit. With the pace to win in New York City, the 27-year-old now arrives at Envision's home race with the confidence that he can put the green machine on the top step.
This article might seem to be flying the Union Jack a bit, but as British racing hero Nigel Mansell once famously said racing in front of a home crowd 'is good for a few extra tenths a lap'.
Mahindra Racing are the type of team to be inspired by the cheers of their Passioneer fanbase, with former driver Alex Lynn putting on a show in 2021, taking a thrilling victory in the second race in London, much to the delight of team principal Dilbagh Gill.
Alexander Sims put in a formidable race last time out in the Big Apple, qualifying third he was promoted to the front row following Cassidy's penalty. For the duration of the 45 minutes plus one lap his defence was as if he was driving a car two feet wider than the rest, holding off some big hitters to end the race in fourth.
There's always the title contenders to consider too, there's a reason why Stoffel Vandoorne (Mercedes-EQ), Edoardo Mortara (ROKiT Venturi Racing), Mitch Evans and Jean-Eric Vergne (DS TECHEETAH) are holding the top spots in the Drivers' standings.
Look at the break down of the standings for the top four and at most they've only dropped points in three races maximum. Of these title contenders, Vandoorne's finishes have been key to his lead standing in the championship table, the Belgian has only dropped points in one race this season.
