Evans on bringing nightmare wait for silverware to an end in Berlin

Mitch Evans claimed a second win of the season and emerged as Jaguar TCS Racing's hero in Berlin. After a challenging year for both team and its drivers, the Kiwi produced a strong comeback drive, albeit long after that opening round win.

Evans started the season strong with an impressive victory in Sao Paolo, but things haven't been the same since. A string of non-scores followed, despite Evans fighting tooth and nail to claw himself back up the order and into the running - such is the level of competiveness on the grid.

The Tempelhof Airport Circuit poses challenges for every driver but Evans was able to rise to the occasion. Securing pole and converting to victory, he achieved a result that meant far more than just another silverware; it was redemption in a season where little had gone to plan.

Reflecting on the win, Evans said: "It's been a really tough few months, and it felt like I couldn't do anything right. I kept having problems; performance wasn't quite there, and qualifying was just too rapid, so I had to keep it together.

"Obviously, in the race, it was changeable conditions. I think the team really managed the strategy well. I had some problems after the pit stop, which allowed Pascal (Wehrlein) to get closer to me.

"So once it happened, I thought I might have to stop in the race, and I was just kind of like, well, that just sums up my season.

"Luckily, I was able to juggle both things and bring them home, but it just wasn't expected. I'm just very happy for my side of the garage, for the team, you know, it's been a good day for what's been a really difficult season."

Now heading to the season finale in London, where heartbreak struck last year as he lost out in a three-way title scrap to Porsche's Pascal Wehrlein, Evans arrives with renewed confidence. Last time out, he brought home two podiums, showing signs of the form that eluded him earlier in the year.

After helping secure a 50th Jaguar poduum in Formula E back in Berlin, Evans will want to ensure he does his bit in London to see out long-standing Team Principal James Barclay's time at the team, as he is set to leave Jaguar TCS Racing at the end of Season 11.
