Jaguar TCS Racing's Evans debriefs his "unexpected" Pole Position in Berlin

Here's how the pole sitter in Berlin recapped his qualifying session around the Tempelhof airport.

Mitch Evans secured the Julius Baer Pole Position ahead of Round 13 in Berlin with Jaguar TCS Racing, after setting the best time of both qualifying groups in a rain-impacted session. After a delayed start due to inclement weather, qualifying got underway at 12:00 local time. The wet weather made for challenging conditions, and the format was tweaked slightly with the Duels cancelled as part of the session.

“Honestly it's really unexpected,” Evans said after his first pole of Season 11. “I've had a really mixed bag of results and performance in wet weather this year, so I wasn't really sure to expect, but it seemed from the first few laps I had a good advantage.

“I was able to keep improving as well, so you have to take it when you've got underneath you. We were able to just be in front of the Group B guys as well. So let's see what the weather does for the rest of the day – it could get worse, it could get better, but hopefully we get a race in.”

Evans hasn’t scored a single point this season since his win in São Paulo for the opening race of the season, and unfortunately for him the usual three points won’t be awarded due to the session being impacted by rain.

RESULTS: Qualifying for 2025 Hankook Berlin E-Prix, Round 13

“I've got no idea,” Evans said when asked what made the difference today. “I feel like I'm driving the same every time I'm on track or in these conditions at every venue, but the wet can really throw it up against you.

“Today we'll have quite a good advantage, so honestly, it's just a bit of a gamble. Luckily, I was able to extract it when we had it underneath us and I am just very happy.

“I've had a really rough run this year, so on my side of the garage, a really good boost and for the team in general. Hopefully we can convert it into a result. That's the next on the list for today.”
