Formula E stars hold karting race for Billy Monger

Last night on the out-skirts of Paris at the RKC Karting track, 10 Formula E drivers took on eager fans in a charity endurance race to raise funds for the British racing driver, Billy Monger, who suffered life-changing injuries in a British Formula 4 race.

The Formula E drivers in attendance were Jean-Eric Vergne, Nelson Piquet Jr, Panasonic Jaguar Racing reserve driver Ho-Pin Tung, Felix Rosenqvist, Nick Heidfeld, Stephane Sarrazin, Antonio Felix Da Costa and Robin Frijns. Frijns finished as the leading Formula E driver in third place, followed by Piquet in fifth.

Despite heavy rain, the racing went ahead and the Formula E drivers took time out to meet and greet the large group of fans that signed up to take part in the race. After the race had finished, all the drivers and fans huddled up in a circle and spoke to Billy over the phone to tell him about the event.

At the previous race in Monaco, the Formula E teams and drivers had the #BillyWhizz sticker on the cars and helmets and will continue to do so at this weekend’s Qatar Airways Paris ePrix.

Vergne and Piquet have set the target of raising £20,000. To donate just click here >> https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/RacingForBilly
