With a karting career that began at the age of nine, she has triumphed in national karting championships in Colombia and the United States and has achieved success in various championships throughout her career to date.
“I’m really excited to join Maserati MSG Racing and I’m already enjoying working with some very familiar faces that I have worked with previously," said the 31-year-old. "I drove the GEN2 car but the GEN3 Evo is a very different experience and the evolution of the car from Season 10 (GEN3) to Season 11 (GEN3 Evo) makes a significant difference from a performance perspective.
"Testing time in Formula E is so limited so each session has critical importance so I want to do the best possible job for the team in Valencia to help them prepare for the season ahead. With one eye on the future, I also want to make the very most of this opportunity to show the team what I can do. I’m very proud that the team has shown this faith and trust in me and I can’t wait to get started in Valencia.”
Also joining the team is German racing driver, Carrie Schreiner, who is currently competing in F1 Academy for Campos Racing. Schreiner's racing journey also began in karting, where she clinched the X30 Junior championship in 2012 before transitioning to single-seater racing in ADAC Formula 4 and British Formula 4.
In 2017, she made moved to GT competition, finishing as the runner-up in Lamborghini Super Trofeo Middle East and triumphing in the series’ Pro-Am category in 2018. Carrie's accomplishments also include winning the DMV GT & Touring Car Cup championship in 2018 and participating in the Nürburgring 24 Hours, where she emerged victorious in her class in 2021.
“This test is an important opportunity for women drivers to gain visibility in the world of Formula E and I'm proud to have been selected by Maserati MSG Racing to take part in the Valencia test," said the 26-year-old. "Driving a Formula E car is a unique and challenging experience, the car handles unlike any other and to make the most of the test, I need to adapt and prepare as best as I can.
"After a successful seat fit and an intense sim session, I feel ready for the big day and I’m looking forward to showing the team what I can do.”
Both hold previous experience in Formula E after representing DS TECHEETAH and HWA Racelab respectively at the series’ in-season test at the Riyadh Street Circuit in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia, in 2018.
Maserati MSG Racing is committed to promoting diversity and inclusivity within motorsport, and this all-women test serves as a significant step towards achieving that goal. With the undeniable talent and determination of Tatiana and Carrie, the team is looking forward to seeing what both drivers can achieve during the test.
"The all-women test in Valencia is a pivotal moment for Formula E, providing a crucialopportunity for all the racing drivers involved to showcase their talent," adds Cyril Blais, Team Principal. "Frankly speaking though, we shouldn't need initiatives like this, but it's an unfortunate fact that women remain under-represented across the board in motorsport.
"Without doubt, there is a problem with connecting talent with opportunity, and we're proud to support initiatives like this that address the issue and provide a credible platform for women to show their talent both on and off the racetrack. Both Tatiana and Carrie are very strong and experienced drivers, and we're looking forward to welcoming them to the team."
Maria Conti, Head of Maserati Corse, said: “I’m delighted that there will be trials in Valencia specially for women. This is definitely apivotal moment not only for Formula E, but for the entire motorsport movement. Maserati has always been a pioneer in engaging women in racing: for example, Maria Teresa De Filippis was the first woman to qualify for a Formula 1 Grand Prix, having done so aboard a Maserati 250F in 1958.
"Whilst the history of racing includes a number of female drivers, Maria Teresa De Filippis holds the unique and unparalleled record of becoming the first woman to race in Formula 1. I’m sure that we will now also have the opportunity in Formula E to demonstrate women's talent on the track and break new records.”
