Evans' progress to points in Portland is your winning Moment of the Day

Picking up 42% of the vote, Evans' drive through the field from the back of the pack to fourth was your Moment of the Day from the inaugural E-Prix of Portland.

Envision Racing's Nick Cassidy may have had a blip last time out in Jakarta, but his return to the top step was your next best with 31%, then it was close between Jake Dennis securing a home pole for Avalanche Andretti and Antonio Felix da Costa fighting hard to third for TAG Heuer Porsche, taking 14% and 13% respectively.

Evans pushes through to points in Portland

It was a rough start to Saturday for Evans, and less than ideal on his birthday, as a battery failure in Free Practice 2 meant that it was a difficult morning for the Jaguar TCS Racing outfit with replacements required to the Kiwi's I-TYPE 6.

Already on a back foot heading into qualifying, it would get worse as a further issue with the battery left Evans and Jaguar in the pits for the group shoot-out and forced to start the race from the back of the grid. In the shadow of Mount Hood, the New Zealander was facing a tall mountain of his own to climb in the race later that day.

For the 28-lap race, Evans took his time getting off the line, a smart move to avoid the concertina effect as the pack jostled for positions head into the first turn and then bided his time, and powering up the energy in his factory Jaguar machine.

There was still pace, as Evans made the most of the peloton-style of racing around the energy-zapping Portland International Circuit to leap through the field and push through from 17th position up to third in just a few laps.

The Safety Car periods meant for a strategically challenging race and on Evans' second ATTACK MODE activation he slipped back to eighth at one point but was able to climb back up to fourth to pick up the ABB Driver of Progress award, and showing the speed of the Jaguar he also claimed the TAG Heuer Fastest Lap for an extra point towards his championship challenge.

Despite what was looking like a bad birthday for Evans, some solid points from fourth and the fastest lap were the cherries on the cake as he retained fourth in the standings and kept his title hopes alive heading into Rome - a favourite of Evans after dominating in the double-header last season.
