The first race of the Rome E-Prix double-header will be shown live on BBC Two in the UK, from 2.45pm BST on Saturday, April 10. The following day, Round 4 of the 2020/21 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship will be available to watch on BBC Red Button, BBC iPlayer and BBC Sport website, with all future Season 7 races live on the BBC.
Fresh from his Round 2 win in Diriyah, Jaguar Racing's Sam Bird is part of a wealth of British talent on the grid. Jaguar will be going head-to-head with another British outfit in Envision Virgin Racing, and Bird will line up against a further six of his compatriots on the grid: Mahindra Racing's Alex Lynn and Alexander Sims, NIO 333's Oliver Turvey and Tom Blomqvist, Oliver Rowland (Nissan e.dams) and Jake Dennis (BMW i Andretti Motorsport).
“It’s great news for British fans that we will be racing around the city streets of Rome live on BBC Two on a Saturday afternoon," said Bird. "It was fantastic to get my first win for Jaguar in Diriyah on the opening weekend of the season. Both my team-mate Mitch Evans and I have won in Rome in previous seasons and everyone at Jaguar Racing is working hard to achieve more success, live on the BBC!”
“Following the intense racing we saw in Diriyah in the first ever night races, we are now heading to Rome and a new track layout which will be a fresh challenge for all the drivers," added Mahindra's Lynn. "It’s great that the BBC have chosen to show the Rome race live on BBC Two and I’m sure fans will be in for a treat with more unpredictable action to come.”
Following Formula E’s first ever night races, in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia in February, the all-electric FIA World Championship will next showcase a double-header in Rome's EUR district on a new circuit layout.
The most competitive line-up in motorsport will race around the 19-turn 3.385km Circuito Cittadino dell'EUR which has undergone a number of amendments in close collaboration with local authorities for Season 7, and sees the track become the second longest in Formula E history behind Beijing.
