Di Grassi leads the way in second practice

Lucas di Grassi showed that he means business in his defence of his win in Paris by setting the pace in the final free practice session for the Qatar Airways Paris ePrix.

The Brazilian used 200kw qualifying power to set a best time of 1:01.359 and set a new unofficial lap record for the Les Invalides circuit.

Jose Maria Lopez was second for DS Virgin Racing despite a quick trip down the escape road, while championship leader Sebastien Buemi was third for Renault e.dams.

Daniel Abt was a solid fourth in the second Abt Schaeffer entry, just ahead of Sam Bird (DS Virgin Racing) and Felix Rosenqvist (Mahindra).

There were a number of offs as the drivers battled with the bumpy surface and tricky layout. These included Panasonic Jaguar Racing’s Adam Carroll, TECHEETAH’s Esteban Gutierrez and new Faraday Future Dragon Racing signing Mike Conway.

The Brit ended the session in 16th, while fellow newcomer Tom Dillmann was 18th fastest for Venturi.

Next up is the vital qualifying session, which takes place at 12pm (local time).
