How Buemi can still be champion

How Buemi can still be champion

With six wins from 11 races, it seems inconceivable that Sebastien Buemi is only an outsider to defend his Formula E title. Yet following his disqualification from yesterday’s Hydro-Quebec Montreal ePrix coupled with Lucas di Grassi’s win from pole, that’s exactly the situation he finds himself in.

But while the outcome may be out of his hands, all is not completely lost. Should Buemi start his day with pole – and three bonus points – it opens up three potential routes to the title.

Victory, second or third, could be enough if di Grassi has an off day, but the Brazilian only needs a fifth place finish to guarantee he is the champion, regardless of what Buemi does.
