The Formula E Championship will try a radical new ‘emoji’ steering wheel dash display at this weekend’s Mexico City ePrix.
Featuring a series of social media-style icons in place of the traditional read-out, the new dash display combines the two aims of making the series more appealing to younger fans while at the same time allowing for greater amount of information to shown in more concise, effective ways.
“Formula E continues to be a digital-first championship with the new emoji steering wheel,” said Formula E Founder and CEO Alejandro Agag.
The new dash has been fitted to one development version of the standard Formula E steering wheel, with the process of determining which driver gets to try the new wheel decided by the reverse order of the latest FanBoost standings.
