Championship leader and TAG Heuer Porsche driver, Pascal Wehrlein, has headed to a local hospital for precautionary checks after his crash in Free Practice 1 in Hyderabad.

The German driver made heavy contact with the barriers at Turn 18 early on in the 30-minute session, after reporting over the radio that the throttle on his 99X Electric had become "stuck". The high-speed shunt resulted in significant damage to the front of his GEN3 car, with debris also being scattered across the street circuit.

FP1 was immediately red flagged, and marshals were quick on the scene. Wehrlein was also able to climb out of his Porsche and returned to the pits for medical checks.

With Porsche still unsure about what caused the issue and Wehrlein's car stranded at the side of the circuit until the session was over, the team made the decision to ground all cars powered by their powertrain - including Avalanche Andretti - for the rest of FP1.
