Boxing titan Anthony Joshua checks out Formula E in Monaco

Boxing royalty made an appearance at the Monaco E-Prix, with Anthony Joshua dipping into the pit-lane and paddock in the Principality ahead of Round 8 of Season 10.

Boxing champion Anthony Joshua watches Formula E in Monaco

The British pro boxer - a two-time unified World Heavyweight Champion and holder of the World Boxing Association (WBA), International Boxing Federation (IBF) and World Boxing Organisation (WBO) titles between 2016 and 2021 - headed to Monte Carlo, Monaco, to soak up the Mediterranean sun and the atmosphere as Formula E came to town.

Joshua got the full tour of the pit-lane and garages during practice and qualifying, with the Brit keen to learn the ins and outs of driving the world's foremost electric race cars around what is the jewel in motorsport's crown. Teams showed him the intricacies of the steering wheel and he took in tips from the drivers, while more than a few engineers and team personnel were keen to learn a thing or two about throwing punches from the boxing legend.

"The main focus is on the racing and Formula E for me today! But I've spoken to the teams and passed a few boxing tips on! I'm learning everything - understanding how the track works, how the motors and powertrains of the cars work, the steering and how drivers pick up speed and momentum and how the Duels qualifying format works."

Joshua was in with Nissan for qualifying, and backing fellow Brit Oliver Rowland.

"I'm just honoured to watch these amazing athletes do their jobs really. I don't think there's anything I can pass on! Oliver (Rowland)," he added. "He knows exactly what to do and way more than me! But we're here supporting him and I hope he can feed off our energy here and grinds out a good result."

Ryan Garcia, who has eyes on moving into boxing's heavyweight category, and Andy Ruiz Jr., who beat Joshua to take his titles in New York back in 2019, before the Brit grabbed them back in a rematch in Saudi Arabia just six months later, have both called out Joshua in recent weeks - seeing fights against the champion boxer as their next best step in their careers.
