Formula E gears up for Visa Vegas eRace

The FIA Formula E Championship gave visitors to Las Vegas a real treat with a spectacular demonstration run down the world-famous strip ahead of this weekend’s Visa Vegas eRace.

The all-electric Formula E car arrived in convoy with the Qualcomm Safety Car - the BMW i8 - and the new Jaguar I-PACE concept, which was making its first public demonstration. DS Virgin Racing star Sam Bird drove the Formula E car, while Antonio Felix da Costa (Andretti Formula E) was in the i8 and Mitch Evans (Panasonic Jaguar Racing) was entrusted with the I-PACE.

Watch the Formula E car, joined by the Qualcomm Safety Car and the Jaguar I-Pace Concept Car, in action on the Las Vegas Strip.

Almost three years after the Spark-Renault SRT_01E made its debut in Las Vegas, all 20 Formula E drivers and 10 sim racers will test their skills on a bespoke track, incorporating the strip, for the opportunity to win a share of $1 million - the biggest prize in eSports racing history.

The ground-breaking Visa Vegas eRace is taking place at The Venetian Hotel as part of Sports Business Innovation at 16:00 (PST) on Saturday, January 7 on the 50th anniversary of CES.

Formula E returns to US soil for the inaugural running of the New York City ePrix on July 15 and 16, against the backdrop of Lower Manhattan on the purpose-built Brooklyn Street Circuit.
