The record-breaking time saw him top, with Andretti’s Norman Nato in second and championship leader Nick Cassidy of Jaguar TCS Racing’s Nick Cassidy in third. Jake Dennis was just behind in fourth, and rookie Caio Collet had a dreamy start for Nissan to finish in fifth.

The session was temporarily shown a red flag, as Sacha Fenestraz went through the grass and into the barriers which broke his front wing and left debris by the side of the circuit.

Once again, the Envision Racing’s set the early pace with Robin Frijns getting out early and going top of the timesheets with his teammate Sebastien Buemi behind. Both drivers have been hinting about their futures in Formula E, as silly seasons begins to gain momentum with four rounds left.
Jaguar TCS Racing’s Mitch Evans took a little jump as he went airborne after running straight on at the first chicane and coming off the back straight. However, the red flags were soon issued for Sacha Fenestraz as the Nissan driver ploughed through the grass and spun straight into a barrier – demolishing his front wing.
It’s a less than ideal start to race day for Fenestraz, whose seat is in the balance at Nissan. The French-Argentine also had a new teammate this weekend in debutant Caio Collet, as championship contender Oliver Rowland was unable to race due to illness.
Once things got back to green flag racing, TAG Heuer Porsche’s Antonio Felix da Costa set the pace and set the fastest lap around the Portland International Raceway in Formula E, with a 1m08.787s. Norman Nato in his Andretti was close behind, although the man who was quickest in FP1 yesterday, will be serving a 10-place grid penalty for today’s race for reaching three reprimands this season.
With just over a minute remaining, Collet popped his Nissan up into fifth. Despite not even running this track on the simulator, the rookie has looked very strong ahead of his first Formula E race weekend.
