McLaren Racing has today announced a new title partnership with NEOM to form the newly named NEOM McLaren Formula E Team, as the legendary British marque gets set to join the grid with a striking papaya livery for the beginning of the Gen3 era in Season 9.
McLaren confirmed their entry into the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship back in May and will partner with NEOM, a sustainable region in northwest Saudi Arabia being built from the ground up, from the 2022/23 season.
In the press release, McLaren revealed that the partnership 'represents the union of two organisations with similar goals in technology and innovation, with the team also becoming a founding partner of a clean-industries eco-system in OXAGON, a coastal city within NEOM, which will be home to the OXAGON Research and Innovation campus that McLaren will support.

Also revealed today is the team's livery featuring the iconic papaya colour that is synonymous with McLaren's history, adorning the angular lines of the futuristic Gen3 machine they will compete with next season.

Commenting on the formation of the new team that comes from the acquisition of the championship-winning Mercedes-EQ outfit, McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown said: "We are delighted to welcome NEOM to the McLaren Racing family. This is an incredible way to kick off our entry into Formula E and to unify our electric racing series. We are thrilled to introduce NEOM McLaren Electric Racing and to work with NEOM to nurture talent and drive innovation.

The partnership signals a new era for McLaren in the team’s endeavour in electric motorsport, with both the Formula E and Extreme E teams taking on the names NEOM McLaren Formula E Team and NEOM McLaren Extreme E respectively.
