Season 9 saw a new world champion crowned at the finale weekend in London - the cream of the crop in a field made up of 22 world-class drivers representing 11 of the best teams anywhere in motorsport.
The closest, most competitive season yet?
Britain’s Jake Dennis (Andretti) won the Drivers’ title in London on the final weekend of the season, which proved to be the epic climax of a season-long tussle with rivals Pascal Wehrlein (TAG Heuer Porsche), Mitch Evans (Jaguar TCS Racing) and Nick Cassidy, who would end up finishing second but not before powering his former team, Envision Racing, to the Teams’ World Championship in the finale.
Seven different drivers from six different teams won races as many of the biggest names in world motorsport appeared on the grid - including Maserati, making a return to single-seater world championship motorsport for the first time in more than 75 years, together with McLaren, Porsche, Jaguar, Nissan and Mahindra.
New locations
A hat-trick of inaugural E-Prix from Hyderabad in February via Cape Town, in the shadows of the inimitable Table Mountain, on to another first in Sao Paulo, Brazil at the end of March proved to be a real showpiece to the season with records for the quickest speeds ever seen in Formula E tumbling as the GEN3 showed off its capabilities early-season.
