TAG Heuer Porsche’s Antonio Felix da Costa was just behind in second, with Nissan’s Oliver Rowland ending the session in third.
Reigning World Champion Pascal Wehrlein completed the top four, with Jaguar TCS Racing’s Mitch Evans ending FP2 in the top five after traffic disrupted his final flying lap.
