Aitken to make Envision Racing return

Envision Racing has announced that Jack Aitken will jump back into their Jaguar I-TYPE 6 in Rome, with teams set to once again field rookies - this time in a special Free Practice session.

After getting behind the wheel of a Formula E car for the first time in May at the Berlin Rookie Test, Aitken will now have a further opportunity to test for the Silverstone-based outfit ahead of July’s double-header in the Italian capital on 15 & 16 July.

Aitken, 27, completed 19 laps during his first run-out in Berlin, assisting the team as they continued to gather data and insights into the new GEN3 car.

The British-South Korean racer will now have a further opportunity to test that machinery as the team's season reaches a title-challenging climax.

Fresh faces, golden opportunity

Teams can field someone who's sampled Formula E machinery before but they must not be drivers included on the Season 9 Entry List and they must not have competed in a Formula E race in their career before. The idea is to give the best young talent a pathway to race at the very top of the motorsport ladder with a taste of Formula E and the opportunity to impress prospective teams in the world's leading electric race series.
