Porsche Formula E Team have shared their special livery for the 2026 Hankook Berlin E-Prix weekend, paying tribute to one of motorsport’s most iconic liveries.

The Pink Pig livery is an instant classic among race fans, and has been brought out to help Porsche celebrate 75 years of motorsport.

PREVIEW: Berlin is back as Formula E returns for Rounds 7 and 8

According to the German manufacturer, the pink livery started life as a bit of an in-joke, but the car became very competitive and has now been seen on Le Man winners.

Now seen on the Porsche 99X, and piloted by Season 9 Formula E World champion Pascal Wehrlein and Nico Müller, the Pink Pig is back.

The history of the pink pig

“When the race-ready Porsche 917/20 first rolled out on the tarmac at the 1971 24 Hours of Le Mans, it initially left the world’s press and race spectators scratching their heads,” Porsche stated about the birth of the pink pig.

“The 917/20 was a variant of one of the most acclaimed Porsche race cars in history, the 917, with a few differences. But what really turned heads was its livery.

“It was covered in the lines and names for meat cuts made by butchers, set on top of a race car coloured with a vibrant flesh-like paint. Was this a bona fide race car or some sort of elaborate joke? It wouldn’t take long for the answer to be revealed, as the so-called ‘Pink Pig’ soon started tearing up the track at the Circuit de la Sarthe.

HISTORY: Who are all the Formula E champions from Seasons 1 to 11?

“More than 50 years later, the Pink Pig continues to capture the imagination of motorsport fans, whether with appearances at heritage motorsport events or via subsequent revivals of its unmistakable design, as we will discover.”

The car will run across Rounds 7 and 8 of Season 12, with a sold-out Berlin crowd ready to cheer on the team at their home event.
