What’s it like being one in a billion? Ask Jehan Daruvala. The Indian driver was one of the winners of Force India F1 Team’s ‘One in a Billion’ hunt organised by the team in 2011, to find the best racing talent in India and help them develop their motorsport career in Europe.
The move to Europe proved to be a significant boost to Daruvala’s single-seater career. He built on a swift rise up the junior formula ladder after stepping up to Formula 3 in 2019, where he achieved two wins and finished third in the championship in his rookie year.
Ahead of his promotion to Formula 2 in 2021, Daruvala made an appearance in the F3 Asian Championship coming third for Indian outfit Mumbai Falcons, where he took three race wins and a further five podiums, as well as three pole positions and fastest laps.
The Indian driver partnered with home team Mahindra Racing ahead of Season 9, joining the team's roster as their test and reserve driver for the all-new GEN3 era.
This season has also seen Daruvala make his first official outing for the Mahindra squad at the Berlin Rookie Test, where he finished seventh overall from the day's running.
For Season 10, the Mumbai-born driver was promoted to a full-time Formula E drive with Maserati MSG Racing.
