Mortara and Engel confirmed at Venturi

Mortara and Engel confirmed at Venturi

Following outings for both drivers at official pre-season testing in Valencia earlier this month, Venturi Formula E today confirmed Edoardo Mortara and Maro Engel as its drivers for Season Four of the FIA Formula E Championship.

With only a matter of weeks until the Season kicks off in Hong Kong with the HKT Hong Kong E-Prix on December 2, here's what we know about the Monaco-based team's driver line-up.

Edoardo Mortara

Born in Geneva, Switzerland in 1987, the Italian driver first stepped up to Formula driving in 2006. Starting out in Formula Renault, it wasn't long before he graduated to Formula Three Euroseries in 2007, where he went on to claim two victories at the urban circuit in Macao. Graduating to the highly competitive German DTM championship in 2011, Mortara raced for various teams until his debut with Venturi Formula E team in Valencia. After adapting to fully-electric racing during pre-season testing, technical issues during the three days impacted Mortara's time in the car. With the HKT Hong Kong E-Prix drawing closer, Season Four could prove to be a steep learning curve for the Italian driver.

Maro Engel

The familiar face of Maro Engel returns to Formula E after racing for Venturi in Season Three. After producing his best performance of the year on home territory with a fifth-place finish at the Monaco E-Prix in May, all eyes will be on the German driver this year. Pre-season testing in Valencia this year was another chance for Engel to familiarise himself with the new features of the car while weighing up his opponents.
